This fully-calibrated pulse tone generator features 5-decibel levels (40, 50, 60, 70, and 80 dB) and 4 frequencies (500, 1000, 2000, and 4000 Hz). Use it to quickly assess both hearing acuity and proper fit of hearing protection. No need to hook up wires or headphones. Testing should take no longer than five to seven minutes.

It is recommended that screening tests be conducted in a quiet room and that higher dB levels (60 – 80 dB) be used to check hearing protection. The Critical Speech Range is professionally considered to be 500 Hz to 3000 Hz. Most hearing losses due to excessive noise exposure begin at 4000 Hz.
